Meadowcrest at Middletown Celebrates Groundbreaking

Book a Tour

Neither rain nor wind could keep New Castle County locals from celebrating the historic groundbreaking of the first senior living community to be built in the area – Meadowcrest at Middletown. The only Independent Living community around, Meadowcrest offers all the luxury of Independent Living and its many amenities, but in a monthly rental concept without large buy-in fees. A 46.0 million-dollar project and approximately 164,000 sq. ft., Meadowcrest will have the full continuum of care with 132 Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care apartments and is scheduled to open in 2021.

In addition to the partners, developers and architects on the project, over dozens of community members braved the rain to be a part of this historic moment, including Greg Stevens, President & CEO of Vantage Point Retirement Living, Principles Mark Quigley and Trupert Ortlieb of Signature Realty Advisors, and many local dignitaries including Senator Bruce Ennis, local council men & women, Chief of Police Robert Kracyla, Master Sergeant Scott Saunders, and over a dozen early depositors and future residents on Meadowcrest’s waitlist.

Beautiful, modern and in honor of the agricultural history of Middletown, Architectural firm Kimmel Bogrette designed Meadowcrest, with Horst Construction helming the build with over 120 years of construction experience.  “Working on a project of this magnitude takes an incredible amount of talent and discipline. You can see in the result of this effort an honoring of the community and region in the architecture.” Said Principal Architect Martin Kimmel. “When folks decide to enjoy their life here at Meadowcrest, they’re going to experience a look and feel that is comforting, relaxed, and sophisticated without being pretentious.  Honoring the residents of this area by incorporating their history and experience into the building makes Meadowcrest feel familiar – like home – like New Castle County, and like something you want to be a part of.”

Senator Ennis remarked that “it’s a pleasure to see this project come to life – to fulfill the incredible need of a quality retirement community for the many seniors who have lived and worked in this area all their lives. They deserve to live with independence and to live well, and I can’t wait to see Meadowcrest provide that for them.”

Senior Vice President of M&T Bank, Nick Lambrow, said “One word we keep hearing everybody talk about is “community” – and this really resonates with us because part of our mission at M&T is to make the communities we live and work in better places to be. I can’t tell you how fulfilling it is to feel part of this community, to see what this project means to Middletown, and to experience how the capital we provide translates into the sticks and bricks that become the homes that are filled with the people who grow and nurture the Middletown community”.

The community is much more than a rental community for seniors. In fact, it’s perfect for active seniors who want to spend more time enjoying their retirement and less time on household chores and maintenance. “As a local family-run business, we’re proud to offer all the independent living services and amenities typically found in an entrance-fee community without the large upfront cost” says President Greg Stevens. “It’s been a long time coming and took a lot of hard work by many incredible folks, and that isn’t always evident to those who weren’t a part of it. I can tell you that in over 30 years of experience building senior living communities, Meadowcrest will truly be unlike any other”.

Meadowcrest will provide residents with country club-style amenities such as a full-service dining in a high-quality restaurant, casual bistro, pub lounge, and fitness programs. Other amenities will include a movie theater, full-service salon and spa, and outdoor terrace with water features and fire pits. Exceptional services will also be provided to residents of the community, including an in-house concierge, weekly housekeeping, security, transportation, daily activities, social programs, and more.

One of the many early depositors on Meadowcrest’s growing waitlist, local couple Ed & Patsy, remarked that they feel “very excited – we can’t wait! Middletown is such a great place, and we’d hate to leave it. We just can’t believe that our retirement is going to be so nice.”

Meadowcrest at Middletown is being developed as a joint venture between Vantage Point Retirement Living, LLC of Exton, Pennsylvania and Signature Realty Advisors. Daily operations of Meadowcrest will be the responsibility of Vantage Point Retirement Living, a regional senior living development and management company which has been committed to providing seniors with best-in-class lifestyle communities in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland for over 20 years.
